Penumbra Press Poetry Series, No. 60
The poems of this octogenarian, collected since the mid-80s, are inspired by nature, especially of northwestern Ontario, and memories of places, people, and happenings. Elizabeth Kouhi considers herself the very embodiment of the proverbial Jenny-come-lately. Her first novel was published at fifty-nine, followed by four more novels for children, two picture books and three books of poetry. Most of this happened in her 60s, 70s, and 80s.
Elizabeth Kouhi is of Finnish ancestry and lives in Thunder Bay, Ontario. A retired school teacher, she still regularly visits elementary schools to enchant young children with samples of her northern verse.
